Description:

The Terrain Imagery Analyst serves as a member of the Terrain Production Cell for the development of Geospatial Intelligence Data to support constructive and virtual simulation databases that are used in training exercises. The Terrain Imagery Analyst is responsible for data ingest, processing, correlation, and publishing exercise-ready data for constructive and virtual simulations. The primary duty of the Terrain Imagery Analyst will be to support source data ingest, metadata development, QA, modification, versioning, and conversion of imagery data in a variety of formats. Duties may include: coordination and liaison with source data providers; development of custom routines to manipulate, process, and publish exercise-ready data, respond to diverse and challenging requests for imagery data processing and analysis; process, validate and QC imagery data for correlation to vector data; generate Metadata for terrain and source data layers. The successful candidate will be familiar with geospatial and imagery data development and conversion as well as documentation.

The Terrain Imagery Analyst will also require the ability to utilize customized tools for batch processing source imagery datasets. This requires that the successful candidate possess an understanding of terrain and image processing. In addition, experience is necessary with data layer geo-referencing, automated and manual feature extraction and digitizing from imagery, feature correlation and registration between terrain, imagery and vector datasets.

Required Skills:

3 years ERDAS Imagine, or equivalent experience with ENVI or ER Mapper, ArcGIS 8 or higher, and GIS data preparation.

Preferred Skills:

Any of the following: Visual Learning Systems ArcGIS for LIDAR Analyst, SOCET SET.

Education:

BS or MS degree in GIS-related discipline, Geography, Computer Science, or other related discipline or 3 – 5 years military experience as a Terrain / Imagery Analyst.

Travel:

Periodic travel may be required.
